Privacy

Draftera is Ken Hopkins's independent practice, based in Newfoundland and Labrador. This notice explains how Draftera handles personal information under Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Ken is responsible for Draftera's privacy practices.

What Draftera collects

• Emails you send. If you write to hello@draftera.ca, Draftera keeps your name, email address and whatever you include in your message.
• Booking details. When you book an Introductory Conversation, Calendly collects your name, email address, the time you chose and any answers you give to its booking questions, and the booking is added to Ken’s Google Calendar. The call itself is held on Google Meet. The booking page on this site is provided by Calendly and may set its own cookies.
• Website usage data. This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, your general location (city or region), and your device and browser type. Draftera uses this information to understand website traffic and improve the site. Google advertising features and Google signals are turned off.

This site has no contact forms and no newsletter sign-up.

How Draftera uses your information

• To reply to you, and to arrange and hold the call you booked.
• To follow up about that conversation, if you want that.
• To understand which pages are useful so the site can be improved.

Draftera does not sell, rent or trade personal information, and does not use it for advertising.

Where it is stored

Draftera uses a small number of outside services. Most are based in the United States and one is based in France, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be accessible to authorities under the laws of those countries.

• Google Analytics (Google LLC, United States) for website usage data.
• Calendly (Calendly LLC, United States) for booking the Introductory Conversation. See Calendly's privacy notice.
• Google Calendar and Google Meet (Google LLC, United States) for the calendar entry and the video call. See Google's privacy policy.
• Porkbun (Porkbun LLC, United States) forwards email sent to hello@draftera.ca to Ken's Gmail inbox.
• Gmail (Google LLC, United States) is where email to and from hello@draftera.ca is received and kept.
• Brevo (based in France) sends the email Ken writes from hello@draftera.ca, so your email address and those messages pass through its servers. See Brevo's privacy policy.
• GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., United States) hosts this website and may log visitors' IP addresses for security.
• Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry) supplies the website's fonts, so your browser connects to its servers when you load a page.

How long it is kept

• Emails and booking details are kept for up to two years after our last contact, then deleted, unless we are working together.
• Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Client information

When Draftera works with an organization, client, donor and staff personal information is never put into outside AI tools without that organization's written agreement.

Your choices

• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
• If Draftera emails you, you can ask to stop at any time by replying or writing to hello@draftera.ca.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask what personal information Draftera holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@draftera.ca. You will get a reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
